PROGRAM INFORMATION

Established in 1989, the Dedman Distinguished Scholars Program is committed to recruiting and educating the top Liberal Arts students in the country. Through a close -knit community of students and faculty, unique research and service projects, and other academic enrichment opportunities, Dedman Scholars build the experiences and skills that allow them to successfully compete with the best students in the world.

The program also provides each Dedman Scholar a $28,000 yearly scholarship and an additional one-time allocation of $20,000 to support research, study abroad and other academic pursuits. These scholarship funds are an integral part of the program and provide the Dedman Scholars with the financial freedom to focus on their academic pursuits.

CONGRATULATIONS, GRADUATING SENIORS (May 2024)

DDGs
Dean’s Distinguished Graduates (left to right): June Bankston, Nina Mbonu, Neerul Gupta, Ingrid Piรฑa, Cameron Waltz at the College of Liberal Arts graduation ceremony May 2024.

This spring, we celebrated our eight graduating seniors at our annual Senior Send-off banquet. We honored graduating members of our Compassion Cohort (Josianne Alwardi, Neerul Gupta, Ingrid Piรฑa, Anuraag Routray, and Joshua Russell), and graduating members of our Honesty Cohort include Eddie (June) Bankston, Nina Mbonu, and Isabel Webb-Carey (with Aditya Namjoshi graduating in December 2024).

We were especially delighted that the College of Liberal Arts named five Dedman Scholars among their Dean’s Distinguished Graduates: June Bankston, Neerul Gupta, Nina Mbonu, Ingrid Piรฑa, and Cameron Waltz (who completed his coursework in December 2023). The DDG award is an honor reserved for only 16 undergraduates in the entire college. In addition, the College selected our very own Joshua Russell to be the 2024 student commencement speaker at the ceremony, and awarded Neerul Gupta with the prestigious Randy Diehl Prize, a $10,000 award presented to student who has committed to service in the year following graduation. Way to go, seniors! We are so proud of you.
