For the 2022-2023 academic year, the Dedman Distinguished Scholars Program welcomes nine new scholars: five incoming freshmen, who form the Humility Cohort with faculty mentor Dr. Thea Woodruff, and four rising sophomores, who form the Courage Cohort with faculty mentor Dr. Virginia Brown. Each cohort will work with their faculty mentor to chart their course at UT and will enjoy fellowship and support of the other Dedman Scholars. This year there are 31 scholars in the program.
The Dedman Family founded the scholarship to give its recipients “the educational experience of a lifetime and the freedom to pursue their highest selves.” Reading their individual bios and reflections (linked below) will give you a fuller sense of what Dedman Distinguished Scholars Program is all about and how students are pursuing their dreams at UT and beyond.
